Chianti Classico DOCG Tenuta Sant Alfonso

Chianti Classico Tenuta S. Alfonso is a Chianti wine made from Sangiovese grapes of a particular clones selected by Rocca delle Macie in this estate that has different characteristics beacouse of soils composition. This clone give different results: Tenuta St. Alfonso is a possession of Rocca delle Macie and the soils are poor in skeleton and clay-rich so this characteristic contribute to the ripening of Sangiovese to give richer in polyphenols and more structured. The Sangiovese of Tenuta St. Alfonso is harvested by hand and brought in the cellar for wine-making that takes place in stainless steel tanks and temperature controlled fermentation process lasts for about 10 days with continuous pump over and delastage to extract the coloured pigments and aromatic compounds from the skins to the must. Then the wine is separated from the skins and placed in French oak barrels for a year before blending, bottling and rest at least one year in bottle before entering the market.
