Giuseppe Serra and his son founded the Salumificio Mena in the town of Nicastro, in the region of Calabria. Initially it was one of the first small companies where traditional Calabrian cured meat was produced with techniques passed down from one generation to another. Today the family's sons Fernando, Vincenzo, Sergio and Oscar are carrying on their dad and grandad's work. Great attention is given to the selection of the meat, the mixture of natural aromas together with pepper preserve and also to the slow curing technique, and these features all combine to make these products stand out for their incredibly high quality.
On the west shore of the Garda Lake, there is the famous Comincioli company, originary of Puegnago, in Valtenesi. The company is made up of a great number of lands owned by the family: 11 hectares planted with vines and 10 planted with olive trees. The company is founded on a family that has been passing on its tradition from generation to generation. Research and newness are fundamental for the company to create an innovative product, by guaranteeing its healthiness and quality; these are principles which became their mission." The olive oil is one of those products which represent the Italian tradition and cuisine, well-known and used since ancient times and famous for its heathy features, such as the vitamins E, K and D, beta carotene, poliphenols, all properties known for their antioxidant characteristics, healthy for our cells. The extrction of the olive oil takes place in the respect of the surrounding environment, in perfect harmony with nature. The plants, for example, are yearly pruned, guaranteeing their healthiness. The extra virgin olive oil shows all its intense aromas, sligthly bitter, and it is a healthy, genuine, high-quality product, with notes of green clover.
