Monte Alto Franciacorta Saten

Monte Alto Franciacorta Saten is the Franciacorta wine from the Monte Alto winery in Clusane in Franciacorta on Lake Iseo. This Saten comes from vineyards on the north-eastern slope of Monte Alto overlooking the lake, where the calcareous soils and special microclimate make the area particularly suited to cultivation. Monte Alto Franciacorta Saten was conceived to combine the depth and elegance of chardonnay while expressing the territory of origin. The grapes are harvested by hand around the beginning of September and brought to the cellar for a soft pressing. The must is divided into first and second pressings and fermented partly in steel and partly in third and fourth passage wood. After fermentation, the Franciacorta wines are left to mature on the lees until the spring following the harvest before being blended and bottled after the addition of sugar and yeast, which allows the second fermentation to take place inside the bottle and the bubbles to appear. After at least 19 months of rest in the bottle, Monte Alto Franciacorta Extra Brut is disgorged and placed on the market.
