Brunello di Montalcino Greppone Mazzi is a wine made with 100% Sangiovese grapes. The name of the estate comes from the hill called 'Greppone' where the company was founded. The Mazzi's were the first one to produce Brunello on that hill, its vineyards are located both on the Greppi area and the Logge area, south-east of Montalcino. The Sangiovese is hand-harvested and brought to the winery for the vinification that takes place in temperature controlled steel tanks where the de-stemmed bunches ferment for around 15 days at 28°C. Afterwards the wine is separated from the skins and put, as tradition wants, in big barrels of 30-36 Hl for 36 months before being blended and bottled. Bottle ageing chosen by Ruffino for the Brunello Greppone Mazzi, lasts for 8 months before releasing.
