Falanghina del Sannio DOC Feudi di San Gregorio Serrocielo

Falanghina is a grape variety of ancient origins: since the Roman era this grape was used to make the Falerno, a wine widely consumed in the Roman capital. This variety was probably imported to Italy from Greece. Serrocielo wine by Feudi di San Gregorio is an excellent interpretation of the Falanghina and with this product Feudi di San Gregorio succeeds to keep intact all the characteristics of the Falanghina, from the plant to the glass. Only the best vineyards are selected, where the Falanghina grapes are hand-harvested and then brought to the winery for the pressing. Musts are clarified and inoculated with selected yeasts. The fermentation takes place in temperature controlled steel tanks at 16-18° C for about 15 days. After this process, the wine is refined by extended lees for 5-6 months during which several batonnages are carried out allowing the wine to develop its aroma and flavour finess. After being bottled, the wine rests in the cellar for two months before being released on the market.
