Organic Franciacorta Riccafana Saten

Organic Riccafana Satèn is a Blanc de Blanc, which means it is a wine made only with white grapes. Satèn is the most famous type of Franciacorta and it is possible that only Franciacorta could produce a Satèn. It has peculiar features: less pressure in the bottle and a slightly higher sugar content than the Brut, leaving a 'satin' feeling in the mouth, which is where the name Satèn comes from. The La Riccafana Chardonnay of the Orfano Mount is hand-harvested in August ( on the south side of the mount grapes ripen earlier) and brought to the winery to be pressed. Selected yeasts are added in the musts and a part of these are fermented in steel tanks and another part in oak barrels where they stay for 6 months before blending. The wine is bottled with the addition of yeast and sugar to allow the second fermentation and the creation of the famous Franciacorta bubbles. After 24 months the bottles are disgorged, so they are opened, the crown stopper is removed, 6 g/l of sugar is added in each bottle and is then closed with the cork stopper. The bottle is ready to be released on the market.
