Donnafugata Lighea special price!

Donnafugata Lighea is a wine made from 100% Moscato di Alessandria (Zibibbo) grapes grown in the typical low bush form on the beautiful island of Pantelleria. Zibibbo is typically used for making dessert wines but Donnafugata Lighea is a dry and quite innovative wine. Lighea is the name of a character in a story by Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa who describes Lighea as a mermaid with sun-blond hair and green eyes; this character later gave Donnafugata Lighea wine its name. Zibibbo grapes are harvested and brought to the winery for soft pressing, and the musts ferment in steel tanks for 15 days at a controlled temperature of 16-17°C to allow the yeasts to express the aromatic finesse that characterizes the Moscato di Alessandria variety. Donnafugata Lighea remains in steel aging for several months before blending and bottling.
