Mustard is a fruit jam flavoured with mustard. The Mantuan pear mustard is an old recipe which in addition to candied fruit also has sugar. There are different kinds of mustard, but the Mantuan one differentiates itself from the other ones for the fact that it is made up of whole fruit or big bits of fruit. Cà Vecchia makes this mustard by following the old traditional recipe and only uses its own pears. Lemon skin is also used to increase pleasantness on the mouth.

How it's made The Mantuan mustard by Cà Vecchia is made with pears of the company. Once picked, the pears need to be peeled, the core removed and the sugar added. After repeating this procedure a few times, the pears are then boiled for a few minutes and the mustard essence added. Cà Vecchia uses 64% of pears, sugar and lemon skin in its mustard. Afterwards the jam is packed.
Storage Once opened, the jam needs to be stored in the fridge.


The mustard is usually paired with boiled meat, Grana Padano or Parmigiano Reggiano cheeses, roast meat or smoked cured meat.
