Rosso di Montalcino DOC Caparzo shows a brilliant ruby red color with violet hues. On the nose, it offers a complex and enveloping bouquet, with notes of ripe red fruits such as cherries and strawberries, accompanied by floral hints of violets and spicy nuances of black pepper and tobacco. In the mouth it is balanced and harmonious, with a pleasant freshness and soft tannins. Red fruits emerge again, enriched by hints of licorice and a light mineral note. The finish is persistent and invites another sip, leaving a pleasant feeling of roundness and complexity.

Rosso di Montalcino DOC Caparzo is a fine red wine produced in the region of Tuscany, more specifically in the territory of Montalcino, an area renowned for the production of high quality wines. This wine is produced by the Caparzo winery, one of the oldest and most prestigious in the area. The Montalcino area is characterized by a Mediterranean climate, with cold, wet winters and hot, dry summers. The soils are mainly clay and limestone, with the presence of skeleton and gravel, ideal for growing vines. These soil characteristics help give the wine its structure and complexity. Rosso di Montalcino DOC Caparzo is made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes, an indigenous variety of Tuscany. The grapes are harvested by hand, usually between late September and early October, when they have reached the right degree of ripeness. The production process involves fermentation in stainless steel at a controlled temperature for about 7-10 days. This is followed by maceration on the skins for another 7-12 days to extract color and tannins. The wine is then racked and aged in French oak barrels and partly in barriques for about 12 months. After aging in wood, the wine is bottled and allowed to rest for an additional 6 months before release. Rosso di Montalcino DOC Caparzo shows an intense ruby red color. The nose offers aromas of ripe red fruit, spices and notes of vanilla and cocoa. In the mouth it is warm, soft, with well-presented but balanced tannins. It is a wine of great structure and persistence, ideal for pairing with red meat dishes, game and aged cheeses.

Combinations

Rosso di Montalcino DOC Caparzo is a Tuscan red wine of great structure and intensity, which goes perfectly with traditional Tuscan dishes and beyond. A first pairing I suggest is with Bistecca alla Fiorentina, a typical Tuscan dish. The succulence and rich flavors of the meat are perfectly balanced with the structure and intensity of the wine. Another ideal pairing is with Pici all'aglione, a typical Tuscan pasta dish. The strong flavor of garlic and tomato goes well with the robustness of Rosso di Montalcino. As for cheeses, aged Pecorino Toscano is an excellent choice. The intense and slightly spicy flavor of the cheese pairs well with the fruity and spicy notes of the wine. Finally, for a slightly bolder pairing, you might try Rosso di Montalcino with a dish of wild boar stew. The wild and robust flavor of the wild boar meat balances well with the structure and complexity of the wine.
