Lombardy is one of the richest region in Italy for its vineyards, where some among the best wines in the world are produced. From a geographical point of view the production areas are completely different, and they are named: Franciacorta, a very famous area for the sparkling wines production with the so called method champenois, the Oltrepo Pavese, famous for its Barbera and Croatina vineyards, but also for the Pinot Noir and for the well-known valley of Riesling. Valtellina area is very well-known thanks to Sforzato wine and for Chiavennasca as well, which is a Nebbiolo clone, used for the production of great aging wines. Increasingly popular in the last few years is the Garda area with the Lugana DOC wine, with its famous wineries Ca dei Frati and Ca Maiol. Last but not the least we find the smaller wine areas of Capriano del Colle and Terre Larian between the cities Brianza and Bergamo.

Ca del Bosco is one of the most famous wineries in the world. It is located in Erbrusco, in the Franciacorta area. Ca del Bosco's history began when in middle '60s Annamaria Clementi Zanella moved to Erbusco with her son Maurizio in a house surrounded by a wood of chestnut trees, called cà del bosc (literally 'house in the wood'). It is at that period of time that Maurizio Zanella, after a trip in the Champagne region visiting the famous maisons, had the idea to produce a great champenois method wine in the Franciacorta region. So he founded a winery that will have become one of the most avant-guarde in the world. Today Ca del Bosco produces its own grapes, planted on 154 hectares of vineyards scattered in the most suitable lands of Franciacorta. Ca del Bosco was founded 40 years ago and has been constantly growing ever since. With a production of 1.100.000 bottles a year, Ca del Bosco is one of the main wine producers of Franciacorta.
